Vertical Descents is only five minutes’ walk from Glendevin; here you can try out Canyoning at Inchree Falls; your 500ft descent takes you over water slides, down jumps and through pools for a fantastic experience! Inchree Vertical Descents also has climbing and abseiling activities, including lessons on the basics of rock climbing. Vertical Descents and Highland Activities also operate in nearby areas, their adventure sports including gorge walking, fun yakking, Segway, water skiing, wake boarding, 4x4 driving, clay pigeon shooting, white water rafting, target sports, fast boat rib trips, sea kayaking, hill walking and mountain biking. For a completely different experience, visit The Ice Factor in Kinlochleven, only 15 miles from Inchree. The Ice Factor has the UK’s first indoor, real-ice climbing wall, as well as the UK’s largest articulated rock-climbing wall and a bouldering training wall. Both are open to beginners and more experienced users, and tuition is available for those who want it. For those wanting a less structured adventure, there are innumerable walks in the surrounding area, through woodlands, up hills, and of course up mountains. During the winter, the mountains near Fort William offer perfect skiing and snowboarding opportunities. For those that want to experience the views without walking up or donning skis, the Gondola, a cable car that transports you up to 2150ft on the north face of Aonach Mor. The journey offers awe-inspiring views of the Scottish Highlands, including Ben Nevis, the Great Glen, and on a clear day, as far as the Inner Hebrides. Travelling southeast from Inchree along the A82, you will reach Glencoe – a truly breathtaking Glen, offering some of the best climbing and walking opportunities in all of the highlands. The dramatic landscapes can be appreciated simply driving through the Glen, and the road offers many parking places and lay-bys to allow you to stop and absorb the scenery. There is a Visitor Centre one mile east of Glencoe Village, and at the western end of the Glen, the Clachaig Inn is a popular pub with walkers and climbers, offering a good atmosphere, live music, and pub meals. If you want to venture further afield, a visit to Ardnamurchan across the Corran Ferry offers scenic drives with stunning views over the Islands, or a drive north from Fort William up the Great Glen takes you past Loch Lochy, Loch Oich, Loch Ness and Loch Dochfour up to Inverness.
